Flabby Upper Arms – A Holistic Approach
Often forgotten in our quest for weight loss is our flabby upper arms. We really don’t think much about it until summer rolls around and the sleeves come off. For men it is only a slight distraction but the problem seems to be magnified with women. The traditional concept of arm exercises has proven rather ineffective and now health and fitness experts are recommending a new approach.
Many women choose clothing based on how much of their “bat wings” may be revealed. More than a minor inconvenience, many women embark on a plan to rid themselves of the giggly arm fat, choosing from the various approaches they find that suits their fancy.
At one time the solution was simple and conventional – exercise, exercise and exercise some more. In spite of serious effort many found that the stubborn fat to be persistent in hanging around in spite of the vigorous arm calesentics by the devotee.
There are still differences of opinion as to how best to solve the problem of flabby upper arms. There is still the traditional school that says weights, primarily, is the solution. In this approach not much attention is given to diet. As a matter of fact, exercise other than arm weights to firm up the biceps and triceps are not at all encouraged.
A more “holistic” approach to the flabby upper arms problem has emerged in recent years. In this approach attention is given to total body conditioning involving exercises and foods to accelerate the metabolic rate along with targeted arm exercises.
In the newer approaches it is recognized that arm exercises alone will be the least efficient method of fat loss in the arms. Time has shown that they are not very effective.
The “diet” component emphasizes foods that have been proven to most favorably affect the metabolic rate but is generally much less restrictive than traditional diet plans. This approach links diet and targeted exercises in a synergistic manner to lose your flabby upper arms.
