How to Treat Candidiasis Naturally Through Diet and Supplements

Candidiasis is an overgrowth of Candida albicans, a yeast-like fungus, which can occur anywhere in the body but is most common in the digestive tract or vagina, leading to thrush or yeast infection.

Mild cases can be overcome easily, but it is advised to work with a nutritionist who can assess the extent of the condition with proper tests.

You will need to follow a healthy, balanced diet. You should avoid all sources of sugar, especially fast-releasing sugar, and should avoid fruit for one month. You will also need to avoid yeast-containing foods, mushrooms, alcohol and vinegar. Wheat will probably irritate the stomach and so intake should be reduced. Your diet will be rich in vegetables, grains, beans, lentils, nuts and seeds. Working with a nutritionist will allow these substances to form a comprehensive, anti-candida diet.

Supplements will be very important in allowing your body to return to good health. You should consult a nutritionist to devise a supplement programme tailored specifically to your needs, but in the meantime your supplement programme should be made up as follows:

  • 2 x multivitamin and mineral daily – several vitamins and minerals will be helpful. These will all strengthen the immune system. Supplementing individual vitamins and minerals is not advised.
  • 2 x antioxidants daily – these will help reduce inflammation to the affected area
  • 2 x omega 3 fatty acids daily – these will strengthen the immune system
  • 2 x probiotic – these will provide the beneficial bacteria to assist the digestive tract
  • 15 drops x twice daily Grapefruit seed extract – this anti-fungal substance will attack the growth of Candida
