High Blood Pressure and Its Causes

High blood pressure is the great devil that rules over 90 percent of the earth. It was initially dominating the elder people, but now it has transformed into a much stronger disorder that it has occupied even the younger generation.

This hypertension not only spoils one’s health but also happiness and peace in one’s life. It changes our food habit, our life style, and many more of our favorite things. High blood pressure is otherwise called as silent killer because; its presence would be unknown for years together. One cannot clearly state the causes of high blood pressure. It may be due to heredity or diet problems or the character of a person to be tensed easily or many more. One can never define the causes for high blood pressure easily. However, in some cases it could be defined. These are the physical changes in the body. It may due to the aorta structural abnormality or the shrinking of the blood flowing arteries. Sometime hypertension occurs even when abnormality is detected in kidney. These physical damages can be easily corrected by a physician.

Causes for High Blood Pressure:

  1. Arteries Shrink: Arteries are the blood vessels that carry blood pumped from the heart to all parts of body. They carry pure blood. They dilate or shrink depending on the functionality they perform. When they shrink, pressure would be applied on the walls of the blood vessels in order to force the blood through the artery. This is a normal condition. However, when fat or any other ingredient deposits on the walls of the arteries then they shrink in size. This is the abnormal condition where extra pressure is applied to force the blood through the arteries. This leads to high blood pressure. When such a condition occurs, the heart strains to pump the blood. When such strain is applied, tension develops in the blood vessels and they are damaged easily. These damages directly affect brain and kidneys. Brain and kidneys could withstand pressure to a certain extent; hence many people live without knowing that they are affected by hyper tension.
  2. Obesity: Obesity due to cholesterol and diabetes would also lead to high blood pressure on the walls of the blood vessels. It is mostly fat ingredients that get deposited to shrink the arteries.
  3. Salt Intake: Intake of salt above the estimated level would lead to hypertension. The normal quantity of intake is 5.8 grams daily. When this level increases in certainly would lead to hypertension. Especially when age advances the symptoms would be much clearer.
  4. Genetics: Of course genetics would have its impact in all or most of the platforms of diseases; hypertension is not an exception to this. Hypertension may be caused using genetic patterns. The factor for hypertension is not only transferred through genes from parents to children, child could also imitate the tensed behavior of a father or mother. This would also lead to high blood pressure.

Hypertension Types:

Hypertension is of two types: primary and secondary. The causes for primary hypertension are not known. A meager percentage contributes to secondary hypertension. The cause for secondary tension would be,

  1. Renal vascular disease
  2. Renal parenchymal disease
  3. Hyperaldosteronism
  4. Cushing’s syndrome
  5. Adrenal gland tumors
  6. Hyperparathyroidism
  7. Neurological conditions
  8. Increased pressure inside the space within the skull occupied by the brain
  9. Lead poisoning
  10. Quadriplegia

High blood pressure is the most fast spreading problem in the whole world. Especially as the world turns out to be mechanic rather than natural, blood pressure reaches its peak. Every man must value health to that of money. Remember the saying “Health is wealth”. Be sure to care for mental health too. Not only sound mind lies in a sound body, but also sound mind leads to a sound body.
