How to Lose Belly Fat – Getting Rid of Belly Fat Fast and Easy

Every one of us who are overweight wishes we could lose fat. Of all the fat we’d like to lose, I think we’d like to lose belly fat the most. Nothing says overweight like a big sack of belly fat around the middle.

Conventional wisdom tells us obesity is an epidemic these days, and maybe it is. The real epidemic however consists of an excess of belly fat. Sure, there are many people who have fat evenly distributed throughout their bodies. The truth is, the vast majority of overweight people have more belly fat than body fat.

Why are we so overweight? The main reason is we simply don’t take the time to eat healthy enough. Most of us don’t even routinely cook meals anymore. Between working and childrearing, our busy hectic lives don’t allow us much time to prepare healthy meals. At best, we warm up microwave meals, or mix something with water out of a box. If it can’t be ready in five or ten minutes, most people simply won’t do it. These are habits that lead directly to more belly fat.

We have become addicted to convenience. It’s why fast food and quick-sit-down places are so popular. It’s quick and cheap. We can feed ourselves and our families with no fuss or muss. We love it because we don’t have to spend any real time or effort on it. It’s also why we have so much belly fat in the U.S. today. The figures don’t lie. The typical fast food meal, be it hamburgers, chicken, or pizza usually ads up to be around 1500 calories. The average woman only requires 1800-2500 calories for an entire day. That one meal not only approaches one’s caloric needs for a full day it utterly exceeds both the fat and sodium daily requirements by a significant margin. That 1500 calorie meal is usually scarfed down in less than ½ hour. Do you know how long will it take to burn off that same amount of calories? With a high level of activity or exercise, it could take about two hours to burn off. For the average person with the average amount of activity it takes about six hours. This excess of calories is a direct cause of belly fat.

Now the human body is a very clever and efficient machine. When you feed it fast and convenience foods, you’re providing it with very little nutrition. What you’re actually providing your body with is a lot of sugar and fat; the so called empty calories. Even though you’ve eaten your fill, your body thinks you’re starving since there’s nothing of value being fed to it. Your body thinks it must be must be in the midst of a famine or food shortage. The body’s main job is to keep you alive no matter what and if it thinks you’re in a famine phase, it will store away as much potential energy it can, in any way it can. What this means is that you get more belly fat stores added.

The body creates these extra stores of belly fat, because that’s the central part of your body. Arms and legs are needed to be relatively fat free so we can run away from predators, use weapons effectively and survive in general. This process has evolved over hundreds of thousands of years for the benefit of survival of the species.

These processes are natural survival mechanisms that cannot be avoided.

Our bodies evolved into their current state over many thousands of years, but it’s only in the last hundred or so that we’ve just begun to stuff ourselves with fat laden convenience foods fortified with high fructose corn syrup and preservatives. The human body hasn’t had time to adjust to these modern eating habits and is still doing what it needs to ensure you stay alive. And what do we get for this? We get belly fat.

In reality losing belly fat is pretty easy to do, but nearly all people fail at it. Why? Because it involves not eating the fatty sugar laced foods we love so much.
