Third Trimester – The Last Trial Before Complete Happiness

Do you think the first trimester of pregnant is the hardest part because of the morning sickness you experienced? Not really. That was just a taste of the hardships you are going to encounter.

The third trimester is the period where in everything starts to become uncomfortable and hard. This is the period where you experience all the hardships of pregnancy. Your body becomes larger and it becomes really hard to lie down and find a comfortable position to sleep. Not only that, your sleep is often interrupted by frequent trips to the bathroom, sudden forceful movements of your baby and practice contractions.

Due to the crowding of your organs from your baby’s growth, you will experience frequent heartburns. The weight of your baby also causes backaches and pain in the pelvic. You will also experience leg cramps if you do not have sufficient amounts of calcium in your body. Your baby requires a huge amount of calcium during this period for the hardening of his skeletal system. Take calcium supplements and eat foods that are loaded with calcium to prevent leg cramps.

The third trimester also begins with water retention which becomes worse as you pregnancy progresses. Your feet will grow due to this and they may not be able to fit in your shoes anymore. Drinking lots of water, avoiding salty food, and consuming foods that have high amounts of fiber can help lessen the condition.

One of the things that pregnant women look forward to is when they begin to feel their baby moving. It is amazing and really exciting but once you reach the third trimester, your baby’s movements may begin to be uncomfortable and at times, painful. His or her feet can sometimes get stuck in one of your ribs. A good way to soothe your baby is too caress your tummy while he or she is moving.

Braxton Hicks contractions or practice contractions increase during this period. This is in preparation for labor contractions. Braxton Hicks contractions are painless contractions, you uterus hardens for a few moments and will eventually go back to normal. Unlike labor contractions, these contractions are less regular and shorter. Drinking water, changing your position, or walking can help stop these contractions.

You begin to tire easily and feel breathless during this period. To gain more energy, have small frequent naps during the day. Napping can also help compensate for the lack of sleep during the evenings.

Aside from all the physical discomfort you begin to feel, you may also feel lonely and depressed. You start feeling fat and ugly. You may feel tired of pregnancy. You wonder how long it will take before your baby comes out.

Pregnancy is definitely not easy. It is hard and you have to make a lot of sacrifices. It is not entirely happiness and excitement; there are a lot of changes that you have to go through. The third trimester is the hardest part of pregnancy, but it is also one step closer to seeing and holding your little angel. So don’t feel down, are going through are definitely worth it!
