Quit Smoking – When Did Burnt Become A Flavour Option?

Recently in a cafe I ordered a chocolate croissant to share with my son over coffee. I asked for it heated which was a mistake as the chocolate tasted burnt and was what I would imagine an ashtray would taste like.

If a barista gets it wrong coffee can taste the same burnt way. So I was wondering if why we don’t like burnt coffee or burnt chocolate then why are cigarettes so acceptable.

Humans are very good at becoming conditioned to unpleasant things. We just get used to them and accept strange tastes if we are exposed to them over time. I doubt that many people have ever thought that cigarettes taste great when they first start smoking, but slowly we just stop noticing that burnt smoky taste and just accept the flavour.

The taste is so strong that it dulls other pleasant flavours in food and drinks. One of the first things that ex smokers notice is that food tasted better.

Most people don’t like the smoke from a camp fire to get in their eyes, and will generally move, but smokers are the camp fire and they can’t escape the smoke no matter how much they move, sure you can turn with the direction of the wind, but the real damage is on the inside.

The smoke from a house fire causes a huge amount of damage, and in many cases much has to be replaced just because the smoke can’t be cleaned up. When you have smoked for years the lining of your lungs is like the worst of smoke damaged rooms in a fire.

Sure your lungs are self cleaning organs, but they just can’t keep up with the amount of smoke damage your daily cigarettes are causing, and slowly you lose the battle.

To be completely honest with you, even if you feel OK your lungs a not. You have just lost function a tiny bit at a time. Unfortunately you don’t have super lung tissue you are just a human like the rest of us.

The good news is that when you quit your lungs will fight hard to reclaim their health and in about a year they should be doing fairly well. Hypnosis is fast and effective, but it does take your desire and commitment, so it’s up to you. You can stick with burnt and dangerous or you can breathe fresh air.
