Tips on How to Prepare For Pregnancy

Perhaps, being a new parent is one of the most important and exciting experiences in our life. Therefore, it is important to prepare yourself physically and mentally. Learn what you have to do for the sake of your baby. Here are some tips that can help.

• Avoid taking drugs and alcoholic beverages. To simply put it, drugs and alcohol are basically poisons to your body. You want to immediately stop taking any drugs and alcohol. Although it may be difficult to change your lifestyles, it helps to remember that you have a new life live inside of you. Drugs and alcohol can increase the risks of miscarriage and other pregnancy complications.
• Eat Healthy. Remember, you are what you eat. Healthy foods provide nutrients for developing fetus. It is recommended that you should eat at least 6 servings of bread, 4 serving of vegetables, 3 servings of fruit, 2 servings of milk, and 3 servings of meat daily during your pregnancy.
• Do not skip a meal. Breakfast is especially important.
• Drink plenty of water and high-fiber foods. Constipation is very common, especially toward the third trimester. Water and high-fiber foods can reduce the chance of constipation.
• Exercise moderately. During your pregnancy, it is important not to overexert yourself. Excessive exercise can be dangerous. It can even lead to miscarriage. Never mindless, it does not mean that you do not need to exercise at all. Moderate exercise is proven to be healthy for the baby and its mother.
• Consult your physician about how much weight you should gain. Obviously, you need to gain some weight for your pregnancy, but it is different for everyone. If you are overweight, you need to gain a little less. If you are underweight, then you need to gain a little more.
